Go to Google and do an "Image Search" for Volcanoes Erupting. Find a cool picture and view it. Then, write a description of the picture. Include a "quote" from our Houghton Mifflin reading selection to support your description.

A volcano erupting is a devistating explosion. But volcanoes are good too. They grow new plants and bring new soil and get rid of the old, dead trees and plants. It says" A volcano can be two things: a hole in the ground that lava comes through, or a hill or mountain formed by the lava." Once a volcano is formed, it can not erupt for many, many years.
ReplyDeletea volcano can be bad becuse it killes lots of peole and when you are going to explore it can blow it top off but on the good side it can also be helpful becuse it can also kill the old trees and plnat and the trees and the plants can grow back the story saids "that a volcanoes can be made by a crack or a hole." so wacth out if you live near avocano
ReplyDeleteI think that the vocano i saw was amazing!I saw lava coming out of it and craters in the vocano.There was a stream of lava going down the huge vocano. There was lava in the air as well as on the ground." In the pohotograph of an aruption, you can see boling fontains of lava."

ReplyDeleteThe volcano is sprouting lava like a fountain. "then the entire top of the volcano collapsed". The sides of the volcano is coverd in lava and ash. Some of the volcano is black while some of it is stemming lava.
ReplyDeleteThe volcanoe I chose was a under water volcanoe it was erupting out of the water. You could see smoke coming out and ashes coming out it was the colest erupting under water volcanoe I'v ever seen I think volcanoes are good because "Volcanoes dont destroy they bring new mountains, new islands, and new soil to the land. Many good things can come in a fiery explotinof volcanoes" and I agree.
ReplyDeleteThe valcono i looked up is very very very big!!!!! In the picture it was exploding so much lava in the picture the lava that you can call magma now is going down a track. In the book they said "watch out the people who live in Avocano"!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen you see a volcano it might look like a bunch of fire works or it might look like a weird looking cloud, it could be lava or rocks but both are very dangerous"within 6 hours of eruption of the volcano,more than 5,000 people were taken off the island for saftey."
ReplyDeleteThe picture of a volcanoe I found on the enternet looks like an amazing display of fireworks with lava squirting and pouring out. It looked like a "sheild volcanoe such as Mauna Loa" which was a massive explosion that looked like a meteor shower.

ReplyDeleteThe volcano erupted with great forse.As the red ,orange and yellow lava powerfully shot out the top ,it also oozed out of the top creating another layer of BURNING HOT LAVA.

ReplyDeleteKa-boom!Pacaya Volcano erupts.Lava flows every ware.more and more magma comes poping and sqirting out of it.Fire suronds the tip of the volcano.The heat is intence!The rocks sorunding the volcano melt to make more lava.This happend may on 1997.
ReplyDeleteMy picture is when kilauea erupted. The lava comes shooting out and it is devostation to the town next to Kilauea. Also it is shooting out like 50 feet in the air! It let off a lot of smoke and ash into the air. But I also think the valcanoes can help the Earth because it burns away dead brush and brings back new brush about a month later. And under water valcanoes can make new land for more people to live on. Lastly before a erurtion there are small earth quakes.
ReplyDeleteThe picture I chose was cool because two volcanos were exploding at once. It also was cool because two men were standing next to the river of lava that was forming. I can tell the lava river was big because the picture was taken at a great angle and the men looked very small. The lava that was coming out of the tops of the volcanoes looked like fireworks because they shot out of the top. This is a quote from the story that helps support my description: "The energy released in the eruption was equal to ten million tons of dynamite."

ReplyDeleteThe picture I chose was amazing! I liked it beacause it had lava flying out and it looked like sparks.Also, it didn't look real beacause there was so much detail! The picture told me that volcanoes can cause a lot of damage and harmful things. But volcanoes can also be good beacause the lava kills old plants and other things like that.The story says, "Volcanoes can be good to," Which proves that they can be good.

ReplyDeleteVolcanoes are sooooo cool. But sometimes they are bad because they damage roads, homes, and kill people. Volcanoes can be helpful also, like when they kill old trees thet needed to die so that new ones can come. It's amazing how high and far lava can shoot out of a volcano. I am glad volcanoes are not close to my home.

ReplyDeleteThe volcano I chose is from Kiliuea.This volcano is found in Hawaii aka the big island.kiliuea has erupted 45 times in the 20th century.I think volcanoes are very interesting how about you?
