What do you think would have been the best and worst things about being a child in a homesteading family? Explain your answer with a "quote" from the reading selection and three other sentences.
the best thing if you were on a homestead would most likely be going down to the river the worst things would most likely be all the chores "atthree year olds could act like human scare crows four year olds ran errands like gathering eggs and taking water to feild workers"
I think it would sometimes be fun because you could play with the animals.But sometimes it wouldn't be fun because "in the story the heifer was being mean to Grace" it tried to ram her.
I think the worst part of being with a homestead family is that you never got a break and they always sent the kids far away for days to find a lost cow. The best is i think that they at least had something to do. The rest of the day they would also be working.
I think some of the best things living in a homstead was the animals and how kids can have less responceibility some times. For example kids can go in the barn and play with all the animales and kids wont have to go to school, go to the docter, they wouldent have that many things to do but there chores and thats one of the worst thing about living in a homestead.Back in the 1800's kid had many chores like chacing crow in the feilds, and cleaning their rooms, and setting the table and even more. So being a kid haves its ups and downs. Yes kids still have chores and school but i would wather want to be ing the 2000's then living in a homestead back in the 1800's. Another thing is that kids are SPOILED here then they were back in the 1800's. For example we have T.V and vidio games, but back then they had toys and outside activitys. So i would wather be spoiled then having to have 90 chores a day. Heres a cuote from page 508 how it tells that the family wants a clean spiffy house " Merciful heveans, theres the yolders, the whole family, and look at this house!"
Probably, one of the best things about having life on the praire is the outdoor work, like looking for cattle. The reason for that is that I am, like my father, a stratigian. I'm good at it. I can descifer where the cattle go. I'm also an inventor. I could invent things. Also, in the 1800s, all the famous people were around, like Harry Houdini, Albert Einstein, Harriet Tubman, and Thomas Edison. So, maybe, I could go out and se these geniuses in action. That would be the greatest. But, of course, there's a bunch of chores that you have to complete. Thus, leading to aches and broken bones and sicknesses and dieses. But one of the benifents ov the 21st century is the our medical experiences. In conclusion, I belive that the 19th century, and the 21st century have their goods and bads. To prove this point here is an example from page 503, where it states, "A few months after the fire, a rainstorm struck the homestead. The howling of the wind woke everyone up. Suddenly, "thge darkness, black and thick as velvet, was ripped apart by a terrible blue flash of lightning," Grace remembered. "Then there was a cracking, tearing sound, and the soddy seemed to quiver." The noise was the roof being torn of the kitchen." Even though things like that don't happen often today, it still happens. So we have our differences, and the things that are alike. So, that's a rap.

Also most of your chores involve being outside doing exciting things such as luring the heifers. Here is a quote from the story,"Herding would have gone fine if it weren't for the bad tempered heifer who constantly threatened Grace with it's sharp horns. Even though herding can be dangerous, its still loads of fun.
I think the best thing would be being able to be outside all day if your chores involved being outside. Another best thing was that you would always have something to do so you would never get bored. One of the worst thing about being in a homesteading family would be all the hard work you had to do to keep the land goodd. Another thing is that you may may get hurt doing your chores. I think the best things about being a homesteading family would be, well i think it sounds fun! That would be fun(in my opinion) to work with all those animals on a farm. It would be fun to "help break up clods in the fields, pull weeds, feed the cookstove, milk the cows, and even plow". It would be hard though. I think so because you would live SO far away from so many friends nad would hardly ever have visitors. I guess the homestead life can be a fun one, but it can be a lonely one too.

I think the best thing would be that you could spend a lot of time with your family and you could bake most of the meals yopu eat. I would enjoy that. Some of the bad things are the weather, "hailstones killed people caught without shelter. Lightning was another danger. Grace once saw a horse that had been killed by lightning." It was a danger to live in the 1800 without a good roof overe your head.
